Academic Interests

I had extensive training in women’s health during my internal medicine and cardiovascular medicine training, and my clinical and research focus is in women’s cardiovascular disease. In particular, I focus on investigating the underlying mechanisms and clinical sequalae (via cardiac imaging) of preeclampsia and peripartum cardiomyopathy in the 1-5 year postpartum transition. I am engaged in a number of different clinical and translational studies. I currently lead a multisite cardiac MRI and biomarker study to characterize phenotypes and differential cardiac recovery of individuals with PPCM with and without prior hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
