Dr. Perrin is an academic hospitalist in the Section of Hospital Medicine. She earned an MPH from Boston University and her medical degree from St. Louis University before completing her residency at Oregon Health and Science University. Dr. Perrin joined the Pitt faculty in 2016 and practices hospital medicine on both direct care and teaching services with the majority of her teaching time on the Junior Hospitalist Service. In addition to her clinical duties, she is interested in quality improvement, multidisciplinary provider and patient communication, and volunteers her time facilitating small groups at the medical school. She is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and faculty. She is Director of the Hospitalist Certificate Program to foster trainee interest in hospital medicine and help with the transition from resident to attending. Dr. Perris is Director of Academic Development, Hospital Medicine, creating content and overseeing various educational programs for faculty. Her research interests are focused on medical education, specifically the transition from resident to faculty and early career faculty, VTE prophylaxis in preventing hospital acquired VTE, and communication.
