My research interests are:
-The microbiome of SOT recipients colonized or infected with CRE and other Gram-negative pathogens
-Metagenomics approaches for the diagnosis of infections in immunocompromised hosts
-Novel agents for the treatment of Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) and MDR Pseudomonas infections
-HIV-to-HIV organ transplantation
-Phage therapy, particularly in transplant recipients
-Fungal infections in patients with hematological malignancies, particularly CAR-T-cell therapy recipients
I am an attending physician on the inpatient and outpatient transplant infectious diseases services. I see organ transplant recipients/candidates and patients with hematological malignancies (hematopoietic cell transplant, CAR-T-cell therapy, leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma).
I am the program director for the transplant ID fellowship and one of the associate program directors for the ID fellowship. I direct the weekly ID Grand Rounds and give the annual "Introduction to SOT Immunology and Infections" lecture to the ID fellows. I am enthusiastic about working with trainees, both on the clinical transplant ID services and on research projects in the field of transplant ID.
