Dr. Ian Simpson-Shelton obtained his BA in biochemistry from St. Mary’s College. He then attended the University of California, San Diego for residency where he obtained his MD and master’s degree with the Leadership of Healthcare Organizations Program designed to help eliminate health disparities and foster health equity. He chose UPMC because of the rigorous training in critical care, passion for medical education, dedication towards helping their trainees achieve their career goals, and most importantly the people. Dr. Simpson-Shelton is a DMV native with a large loving family. In his free time, he loves to spend time with his fiancé and dog Phoebe, reading, playing tennis, and watching my Formula 1, futbol (Liverpool FC), and catching a baseball game.
