Academic Interests
The Schmitz lab is interested in:
1. the role of exercise on physiologic and psychosocial outcomes among people living with and beyond cancer.
2. Policy, health services, and implementation science efforts to translate the robust exercise oncology evidence base into standard of care.
3. Training the next generation of exercise oncology researchers.
A robust body of evidence supports the use of exercise as standard of care in the setting of oncology. Dr. Schmitz leads Hillman Cancer Center efforts to make execise programming available to all patients.
