Dr. Rachael Gordon is an early-career physician-scientist and Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Her research focuses on unraveling the immunopathology of Sjögren’s disease (SjD), a common and understudied systemic autoimmune disorder that disproportionately affects women and lacks FDA-approved disease-modifying therapies. Integrating small animal models with patient cohort studies, Dr. Gordon aims to identify the immunologic drivers of SjD and uncover new therapeutic targets. Her current work investigates the role of IL-12 signaling in promoting SjD, with the goal of informing the development of IL-12–targeted therapies. She is also building a comprehensive SjD translational research program at the University of Pittsburgh, including a longitudinal registry and biospecimen repository, to support translational discovery and improve outcomes for patients with SjD.
Dr. Gordon is committed to teaching rheumatology and immunology, with a particular emphasis on Sjögren’s disease, across all levels of medical training. She is also passionate about mentoring and supporting the professional development of future clinician-scientists and healthcare leaders.
