Academic Interests

Dr. Herrle serves as the Chief of the Division of Whole Health and Clinical Director of the Whole Health Program at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. His clinical interests are in health promotion and disease prevention in addition to addressing musculoskeletal complaints. His research interests clinical reasoning and physical diagnosis. 

Dr. Herrle's academic interests include the teaching of physical examination and history taking skills, in addition to clinical reasoning, to residents and medical students. Dr. Herrle is a member of the UPSOM's Curriculum Committee. he has served on the writing committees for the general medicine component of the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th editions of the Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP), which is published by the American College of Physicians, and has also served as a member of the In-Training Exam Committee of the American College of Physicians. He currently is section editor for ACP MKSAP and also serves as a contributing Deputy Editor for ACP MKSAP.
